Workshops
Looking forward to being back in the northeast this summer, to join the faculty at SnowFarm, June 10-14. The work is titled, Material Memory : Layered Collage. It is a workshop that invites you to slow down and discover the art of building richly layered collage works through accumulation and sustained attention. During our time together you will be guided in developing two collage works on 11" x 14" canvas, allowing each layer to inform the next as your compositions evolve through a process of building, revising, subtracting and responding to each layer. Each day introduces a new technical skill and guided exercise—from surface preparation and mark-making to image transfer and mixed adhesive applications—that you'll immediately apply to your ongoing works. The workshop emphasizes learning and discovery through doing: observing how control and spontaneity interact, understanding when to push forward and when to step back, and discovering the visual stories that emerge when we follow our curiosities and allow time itself to become part of the creative process.
All levels welcome.

Presence + Wonder: Contemplative Art Making
Beauty was not simply something to behold; it was something one could do.”
—Toni Morrison
Instructions for living a life:
Pay attention.
Be astonished.
Tell about it.
—Mary Oliver, “Sometimes”
Join Lanecia for an immersive workshop that invites you to slow down, observe deeply, and create from a place of presence and authenticity. Through contemplative photography, slow reading of poetry, abstract meditative painting, and mixed media collage, you’ll develop a personal visual vocabulary and create works that make visible what is within you. This workshop emphasizes process over product, curiosity over perfection, offering a restorative creative experience where contemplation and art-making beautifully intersect. No prior art experience necessary—all materials provided except camera/smartphone. Perfect for anyone seeking a gentle, reflective approach to creativity.

I am excited to be teaching a multi-day workshop for the first time at Penland School of Craft this summer in North Carolina. The workshop is titled, Visual Poetry: Mixed-Media Collage. Through the lens of visual poetry, we will discover how collage allows us to speak in a language beyond words—where fragments of photographs, paper, and mark-making become verses that express what lies within.
The class is at capacity. You can join the waitlist and learn more about Penland School of Craft and upcoming workshops HERE.
